Use the "more info" function to tell us more. What is it that you want to do? You want to use the scientific method to figure out something and create a theory from that?

This is a really good question. The answer is easy...we do the scientific method. In fact, performing the scientific method is in part a prerequisite for doing science in general.

Roughly the scientific method is simply a series of tasks:

State the problem (e.g., ask the question).
Research the problem cause and background.
Collect information and data.
Construct a model based on the data.
Form a null and alternative hypothesis to test the model by.
Run the test and collect the results of the test.
Determine if the hypothesis is or is not validated by the results.
Form your conclusions based on the test results.
Make recommendations based on the conclusions.

If the hypothesis proves valid during this method, then it is accelerated to the status of theory.
