Mmk I just need sort of a reminder of the steps.
Heres the problem:
9y+4=2y+25
I know to subtract 4 from four and 25 and that leaves me with:
9y=2y+21
Do I divide 2y bye 9y?

nope, you subtract 2y on both sides. That gives you:
7y=21
Then you divide by 7 on both sides to get your answer.

9y + 4 = 2y + 25

Transpose 2y

9y + 4 - 2y = 2y + 25 - 2y

Collect like terms

7y + 4 = 25

Transpose 4

7y + 4 - 4 = 25 - 4

Collect like terms

7y = 21

Divide both sides of the equation by 7

7y / 7 = 21 / 7

y = 21/7

y = 3

Here is how I would do it:
9y+4=2y+25
9y+4-2y=2y+25-2y
7y+4=25
7y+4-4= 25-4
7y=21
7y/7=21/7
y=3

Subtract 2y form both sides

7y = 21, now divide by 3 and y=7

The object is to get the y's on one side and the numbers on the other.
