Another horror story from Canada:

September 4, 2007

A shortage of urologists has become so pronounced that patients' lives are at risk, managers of a St. John's-based health authority have been warned.

Andy Grant, a member of a prostate cancer support group in St. John's, said he is afraid that people will die — or already have — while waiting for surgery.

"First of all, [patients deal with] the shock you might have prostate cancer, then the shock of being confirmed with prostate cancer," he said. "Now you have the shock of saying, 'I have to wait until next year?' "

Hmm, isn't it interesting how Fatso (a.k.a. Michael Moore) 'forgets' to include these little tidbits in his propaganda films?

Socialized medicine is a progression; if socialists can use enough class envy type scare tactics, they can get reasonable people to jump on the bandwagon, to support the foundation for applying socialism to other emotionally charged issues and problems.

A little socialism is like a little heroin, it leads to more and more.

That traitor Michael Moore, also forgot to take aim at trial lawyers- John Edwards, is a good example of the problem. Predators, like Edwards, who prey on tragedies & accidents and negligence, cause our health care costs to soar; people have needless operations because medical workers can't take the risk of a trial lawyer, destroying and robbing them of everything they have ever achieved in life. Insurance costs, drug costs, medical services are exponentially linked to the real disease- trial lawyers.

If you are against tort reform and support trial lawyers taking 30% - 40% of "lottery winning" judgements, you are disengenuous about solving the health care crisis. Funny, isn't it, how the people who demand that goverment pay for everyone's health care are the same people who support frivolous lawsuits and ridiculous litigation. The real enemy to the socialist is business, insurance companies and drug companies; you who support these socialists are dupes.

Sorry, comrades, evil corporations do not owe every American, free health care. If you support cretins like Edwards, you are part of the problem.

Talking about socialized medicine system is not so good in Canada?! Do you know your Medicare part B, and part D are
not great either! I have a friend who went for a PSA test through a lab/examination for possible prostate enlargement, the Medicare did not reimburse the test cost? The Medicare Review Board says: This is not medical necessities, so, claim denied. I think the people who works at the Medicare Review Board, must be a moron, or, crazy! Is the PSA test a kind of cosmetic test/treatment? A high school student can tell you: It is medical necessity.
I propose that we should overhaul the Medicare system - The
system is too large, regulations are too vague, responds too slow, do not have knowledgeable peoples working there. The Coordination Department of the Medicare is not able to interface with the Insurance company fast enough. The is the whole reason why many Americans can not get proper health care. Wrong peoples are handling your claims!

Urollogist, I.P. Daily and Dentists Pullum and Yankem all gave an account of socialized medicine. Along with Proctologist Seymor Butts the doctors recanted any complaints they had raised about Socialized Medicine. They were caught up in the fear tactics of the opponents to decent health care. The opponents assured them that poor people would only be seeing doctors in the ER and they wouldn't be bothered they also offered the esteemed physicians money to support only expensive health care so average people, old people and poor people will be excluded and thus make it possible for them to ride in on high horses and look down on those cake eaters. Psychologist Dr. Crazyfool said that he only treats the ones opposing affordable healthcare because they are better than anyone else and the only ones needing his services.

Propaganda, look who is talking about propaganda. The right has nothing to complain about when it comes to propaganda. They are masters at it. Sort of a pot vs kettle hypocracy thing again.

I don't think I have ever seen so many unfounded and absurd answers to a question! The problem with our SOCIALISTS (Dems) is that they are so in love with their vision they ignore reality! The US can't afford socialized medicine nor is it able to run such a system. Look at Social Security and Medicaid! Do you want to entrust your health to the government? I recommend getting a good education and an excellent job so you can afford to pourchase health insurance. Government handouts are always second rate!

Most likely will occur with healthcare is medicare part D set up for healthcare, it would protect against 40k medical bills, but it wont pay treatments costing under 5k that are not medically necesary. A prviate sector give away republcians like, and democrats will like it because it will claim universal coverage, but in realty just to protect people from going broke 50k in hole getting heart attack is all., and not program for basic medical needs.

No, it is not the wrong prescription. We already have socialized medicine--Medicare and Medicaid. We could expand those programs to cover everyone in the country, and anyone who doesn't want to participate could be given a tax credit. Why should a rich country like the USA not ensure that all of its citizens have health insurance? It is a national disgrace that we have over 40 million citizens without health insurance!!!

Socialized medicine at the national level would be unconstitutional, not to mention that any kind of program that would be implemented would face stringent opposition and would probably end up watered down as a result...legal technicalities aside.

Suggestion:

Those of you who want socialized medicine, push for it in your own state. Prove that it can work and work well, and maybe the rest of the states will emulate your example. One or two test markets would be preferable to forcing one unproven system on the entire country (less accountability, etc).

I'm totally against socialized medicine, but, if it is ultimately unstoppable, the above method seems preferable to the usual one-size-fits-all policy coming out of Washington D.C.

Who said we have to have Canada's system? I'm sure they are happy with their system more than we are with ours. More people in this country are dying because of our health care system than Canada's. And, far more people are going bankrupt because of needed healthcare that their insurance providers won't pay for. Those people are losing their houses as a result. I don't think it is fair for people to have to chose either keeping their house or keeping their life with necessary healthcare that they can't afford. And, England and France are even happier with their systems. How about we take the best of all the other great socialized health care systems out there and put them into one big system and make that our health care system. Besides, our socialized medicine system will probably be a mixed system of socialized and private, just like Englands.
Socialized or Universal healthcare is not Socialism, it is democracy in action. It's not right to keep people sick so the insurance corporations can profit off them.

BTW, this IS going to happen. You do know the Dems will get this through this time because of how much the country has been so patient about the Iraq war. This is the Dem payoff. The GOP even is wanting it. Get used to it because it IS going to happen with the next president.

I'm sure there are horror stories from Canada.

But there are horror stories here in the states as well. People who are misdiagnosed, people who can not get the insurance company to cover tests and/or surgery, and people who cannot find specialists in there area.

But, um, have you noticed how Canadians aren't really streaming across the borders?

And, of course, WHEN a national healthcare plan finally gets put into place, we won't merely copy Canada. If anything, we will be learning from the problems they have, and getting a better program.

Marxist,

First of all, I hope you had to really hunt for a negative reference to Canada's health care system, because it really isn't all that bad.

I have a personal friend up there, and she has some very good things to say about it.

You can believe whatever the Hell you like.

Second, who the Hell wants HMOs anyway?

Not the patients.

Not the doctors.

Hmm...must be the INSURANCE COMPANIES?

Yeah, THAT'S the ticket!
