i actually have two questions, the first is i have had 24, 1 hour lessons and i can now play starlight waltz, beethoven's romanze, mozart's don jaun and stuff like that. i am learning with john thompson book and am on the second grade. I had no musical expieriance before the lessons. Is this fast for a normal person? the other question is, should i contniue with the next books if i am really serious about being a pianist or is it better if i just do piano pieces after this book. plaease help? if it helps with the first ques, i am fifteen.

I'd say that's pretty good progress for 6 months.

Are you working with a teacher? If so, and you're getting sick of John Thompson, tell him/her that you'd like to look at other literature. (I personally can't stand the JT method)

If not, then do get a teacher -- they can help direct and focus you, and improve the speed of your already very good progress.

The John Thompson versions of any of the classical pieces are all very simplified, and if you have mastered them, you could move on to something else. More John Thompson if you like; everything new you learn means progress. I have a personal preference for Christopher Norton's Microjazz. Clever, catchy little pieces which sound a lot more complicated than they are. Because they sound good, they are fun to play.
If you are studying with a teacher, ask for other ideas. There's lots of nice stuff out there. It sounds like you are doing well so far - keep it up !!

Piano-You can play almost all instrument you know. But piano is harder to travel with. Guitar-girls will probably like this. But you have to tune it almost every week or more. Its really your desition. Me i have guitar now, i cant tune my guitar even thought i have tuner. and the strings pops. I thought that piano is easy. Caz you just plug it in and play. I might try piano and sell my guitar. Or not. lol. so there are some stuff or clues lol. good luck!
