You're traveling in a straight line at an average velocity of 24 m/s. How long will it take you to go 560km?

I have no idea how to do this problem..it's tough to figure this stuff out when you have a sub that knows nothing about what he's teaching!

Work w/ an explanation would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance.

convert km to m

560km = 560000 m

distance = rate * time

time = distance/rate = 560000/24 = 23333 s

S = vt; distance (S = 560 km = 560,000 m) is velocity (v = 24 m/sec) times time (t sec) Therefore t = S/v = 560000/24. You can do the math.

The important thing to remember is that v, S, and t have to be in meter and second units. That's why km has to be changed to m.
