At a Best Western, and I dropped them accidentally on the storage unit between the seats. I drive a Dodge Grand Caravan with lockplates that prevent Slim Jims and other devices, and I didn't want to break the glass. Fortunately I had left the rear vent windows open to their 1 inch or so maximum, and I borrowed a 10 foot pool pole, a paper clip, and four feet of string from the Best Western. I fashioned the clip into a hook, tied the string to it and then tied it to the pole and wrapped it around it. I put the pole in thru the vent window and positioned the hook above the keys and turned the pole so the string unrolled. Once I had the keys on the hook I turned the pole in the other direction, drawing them up and then pulled the pole out the vent. Keys in hand!

I used to do it all the time when I had my '97 Neon and I was pregnant...it usually happened when I was trying to get something to eat...now I have a later-model car that won't let me lock my car if the keys are still in the ignition, but I did mess around one day and put my keys in my purse and then lock my purse in the car! I was so pissed...I was on my way to a job interview and had stopped to get some gas...good thing I left early, right? I ended up having to flag down a tow truck driver (my cell was in my purse, too) and pay him $45 just to unlock my door...lesson learned! I always double-check now.

Not since I was 16. I was at the beach and changed in the car, leaving my clothes and keys inside, then locking by pushing the button down.

A few times, and one time I locked my keys in my car while ther car was running!! It was in high school, and I was in the school parking lot, and it was morning time.... luckily someone has a slim jim, but it was locked and running for about 20 minutes.
I didn't hear the end of that for about a year.. and really, I can't blame them.. :-)

who hasn't? I once locked my door thinking I was hitting the unlock button, with my van running, and shut the door to go to the back to find it locked. The worst was we were moving out to training exercise, and all my gear was locked in the van. Lucky I had gave a key to a buddy of mine, but it ran for 30 minutes while I waited.

No, but I have had to rescue many a person who has, once or twice in another city. A whole day spent driving to pick them up and driving to come back home. Here is a thought always wear a spare key around your neck.

i had done this just about a week ago as a matter of fact. and it was at the park and ride where i catch the bus and it was in the morning and i had to get to work. so i just had to leave the keys in there for 8 plus hours and hope it was there when i returned which thankfully it was.
