I have two boys, three years apart. They go through periods of loving each other and periods of squabbling. At first, my older son didn't show an interest in the baby. Once the baby started crawling, they started "hanging out" and playing. Now the baby (well toddler) is walking and stealing toys.... so big brother isn't overly thrilled with him anymore lol, but in the end, they love each other.
People are all different. I don't think you can say one pairing is better suited than another. Whatever God gives you to work with, make the best of it. Good luck.

I think a boy and girl get along better. Males are naturally competitive, so for a while they'll constantly be trying to outdo eachother, I've witnessed it a few different times. It seems like boy and girl siblings become better 'friends', I get along better with my little broth than my older sister. I have a daughter, I want another girl but I'd be just as happy with a brother for her. Either way I'm sure your son will love his little sibling!

I've heard that the closest siblings tend to be sisters followed by a brother and a sister. If they're not too close in age, they're more likely to get along than two children who are close in age. Sibling rivalry tends to be the worst in children who are close in age and the same sex.

i don't think that it matters. it really all depends on how you raise them. personally, i fought equally with my brothers and sister, but i still loved them all.
how are you going to determine the sex of the babys as well as their exact age? i'm not trying to be rude, i'm just curious...
