Genderqueer is someone who literally enjoys playing with and f**king with gender norms. It's not that hard to understand really.
Perhaps a drag queen, drag king, men who like to do feminine things like shop and cook, a man who likes to wear women's undergarments or makeup but looks like a guy in every other aspect. Male flight attendants, male nurses, female oil refinery workers. A female who wears a "packer" dildo under a dress, yet still looks feminine. A female that binds her breasts, a male that looks like a guy but wears a padded bra, "the bearded lady" at circus side shows,do you get my drift? It's things that we don't equate as going together, those things that have us STILL saying in the backs of our minds "boys don't do that" or "girls don't do that".
Interesting you mentioned this. Just today, the girl that sits next to me in my chemistry class had a button on that said "gender queer". I asked her about it and lo and behold, she's a member of a pretty well known drag king troupe in Austin, Tx called "Kings N' Things". How cool.
Oh another example...my g/f calls herself genderqueer as well. She LOOKS like a butch lesbian, but in reality, she is a female that is attracted to transmen like myself. Therefore she doesn't really identify as a lesbian, but she would never date a bio man either. So since she can't really identify with a female's sexual attraction, or a male's sexual attraction..she describes herself as genderqueer and "queersexual".

queer doesn't have a gender . It's a word used by straight people to identify gays in a different generation. It has nothing to do with sexuality. If you couldn't stop blowing up balloons and popping them then I'd say that was a little queer , or strange or out of the ordinary. Over time , words change meaning . A rock used to be something you picked up and threw . Now it's something you buy from the corner dope dealer. A Ho used to be a garden tool and now it's a ***** on the corner. Queer was something strange , and then it was to indentify gays and give it another 10 yrs and it'll mean something else.

Maybe it is something you are just not suppose to understand.
I think you need to spend more time trying to understand your personal philosophy towards confusing and contradictory. That seems to be where you get bogged down. Then once you understand yourself better take on the issue of Gender Queer.

Settle down, Dearest and have some tea and some cake (yes FTW, cake for everyone!) You'e not alone. We're all Human and the ones who can't understand that can go take a hike. Queer is simply just the definition of being a bit odd. Everyone is a bit odd. It would be BORING if we all weren't.
Hurrah for Us!!!!!!

"Queer" is an adjective. Adjectives in general do not have genders in English.
As for people, gay men's gender is male.
Gay women's gender is female.
A transgendered person is usually the opposite of whatever kind of genitalia he/she has.
Clear now?

It's an offensive word that means gay. It is not a gender. Normally it is used for guys that act or look girlish.
