I am about 7 weeks pregnant, and have not had my first prenatal visit yet. I was wondering if it is normal to have mild headaches regularly during the first trimester, and I wanted to make sure it is okay to take tylenol for the headaches.
Thanks!

Yes! I had them horrible around 12-17 weeks. I'd wake up with them. Awful! I tried not taking anything - but they say Tylenol is safe.

Try making sure you get enough sleep and are drinking plenty of water. Sometimes I would lay down for a bit and that would help too.

Good luck!

I am 31 weeks and had headaches frequently throughout my pregnancy. Tylenol is the only thing you are generally allowed to take. I found that when I would get a bad headache drinking two glasses of water usually helped tremendously! Might try a cup of coffee as it helps as well.

Honestly, Tylenol is the ONLY thing you can take unless a doctor prescribes something else. I have had a baby and I am pregnant now. I had headaches with both pregnancies from start to finish and they have been heavy to migraines. My doctor has always told me they are very normal. Sorry you are going through this. I would say "drink a lot of water" but I am tired of hearing that myself. lol

Yes, with all the hormonal fluctuations headaches in early pregnancy are really common.

Here is what the Mayo Clinic has to say about them:

Early in pregnancy, increased blood circulation caused by hormonal changes may trigger frequent, mild headaches.

And here is information on pain killers you can take during early pregnancy: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9811838/

Much luck to you for a happy and healthy pregnancy!

YESSS!!! I had them that early on and still have them-it's terrible. Tylenol is safe, however for my headaches regular Tylenol didn't do me nay good- it was like taking candy- LOL. My doctor prescribed Tylenol w/ codeine a.k.a Tylenol 3. This has helped when I get headaches- I don't get them as often as usual later on in my pregnancy but trust me it can make your day MISERABLE

I am too 7 weeks pregnant and getting headaches! I had my first OB visit yesterday and yes they are normal. Tylenol is okay to take but that's about the only thing you can. NO Advil/Excedrin/or aspirin. I'd stick with Tylenol!

It seemed normal enough for me. With both my pregnancies now, this happened. I took Tylenol Maximum Strength which helped a lot. I let my doc know during my visit and she agreed it was alright.

I had head aches nearly every day for my 1st several weeks. My doctor suggested tylenol - but to be on the safe side I took baby tylenol. It gave me some relief and I felt that since it was such a low dose it wouldn't affect my baby.
