I seem to have developed a rolling water pressure in my home. Is it the bladder tank or my pump?

Thank you! I figured it was the bladder tank. I will try the solution presented.

Will this be a recurring challenge? The tank was replaced just two years ago. Never had this problem with the previous tank.

Thanks... to both of you! You're are correct! Unfortunately the bladder has torn or has developed a hole. I've ordered a new tank... a much larger one (From existing 20 gal to 64 Gal) the 20 only lasted two years! My hope is with the reduced cycles. it will not only save on my pump but should extend the life of the tank? I've decided to go with a fiberglass tank in lieu of the steel? Seems to have varying oppions with the different tanks.

I know what your are talking about! You've got a water logged pressure tank.

1. Unplug pump electricity
2. Drain the lines: open a facet(s) including an outside hose bib.
3. close valve next to tank.
4. Replug electricity. Pressure will build up naturall and will shut off when gauge reading will be 65 or 70 psi.
5. Open valve next to tank.
6. Shut off faucets you turned on in #2.

I know my husband uses an air compressor to speed the draining, but I've never watched. This is my slow but reliable process.

you may have a water logged tank shut off the pump and drain all the water out of the tank through the drain valve at the bottom. There is an air fitting on the top of the tank check the pressure with a tire gauge. The little box on the tee at the bottom of your tank is your pressure switch inside it should say two numbers usually 20/40 or 30/50 the lower number is your pump cut in pressure set the air in the tank to two pounds less and turn the pump back on see if that doesnt help
