Neither, it's just another choice of footwear or lack thereof, but it doesn't have anything to do with whether I feel sleepy or not. Maybe if you're not used to it, it could keep you more awake, I tend to be more awake in unusual circumstances. But after ten years of barefooting everywhere, I just get sleepy when I'm tired and I'm awake when I've had a good night's sleep, and my being barefoot doesn't have a direct influence.

Being barefoot keeps me awake. Too many years in Alaska, I guess. I have to sleep with socks on.
