Not only do they fight any legislation that would require an ounce of truth being told to their clients seeking counseling for an unplanned pregnancy (never refer clients to adoption agencies nor tell of financial assistance for having the child, at least in my area anyway) but now they decieve town and city governments about buildings they want built? If they have nothing to hide, why are they so deceptive in their tactics down to having buildings built?

Many non-profits which many conservatives and religious donate to, truly aide families in real need. I know that I send money to Catholic Charities because of the good work they do and the fact that there isn't red tape to get help like there is with the government.

As for providing educational opportunities, then allow parents a real choice in education, allow them tax breaks or vouchers to choose a school for their child so that when their local public school stinks, they can actually afford to send their child to a school with quality education and discipline.

Deidre, there is over a 2 year waiting list in my area for adoptions. Also, I am an adoptee and a single never-been-married mother. I still acknowledge that the life that was within my womb was my dd's life, not my own, I was just her shelter and nutrition.

I cannot stand planned parenthood.

The founder was extremely racist only believing in a pure race.
If an underage child goes in pregnant and it is found out that the child is pregnant by an adult then nothing is reported to the police in most cases. Therefore they protect pedophiles.
And yes ..they never refer anyone to adoption agencies. They always would rather do the abortion..or refer the woman to an abortion clinic to get rid of her " mistake"

I have also read a few other instances that i cannot stand about them

If they wanna provide teachings and such on sexual protection fine.
and despite the fact that i hate abortion i do beleive that no matter what...if a minor comes in and its found out she is pregnant by an adult..it should be reported.

something like that..i do not believe in that whole privacy policy.
in my town there is an abortion clinic...it is like planned parenthood in it similarity of not reporting when a minor is pregnant. basically..if you have the money to get an abortion..no matter the age..it can be done.

Financial assistance for having a child??? Where was that when I had to fork over $5000 for our hospital stay when our sons were born; we had health insurance.

here is my problem...it seems like right wingers and religious conservatives really only care about the child until it is born once the child is born...the line becomes our taxes are too high and we don't want to pay for government programs that support unwed mothers / single parents / people with children on welfare....oh and our taxes are so high we don't want to pay for schools and teachers that provide every American citizen a world class public education (without religious indoctrination) and access to experiences like museums and art galleries.

If you want to eliminate or at least reduce the number of abortions; start by investing in the educational experiences of the population. Educated people "see" more pathways to success and are more likely to have more stable lives (see link). I believe another aspect that would help quite a bit would be health care for all people. People who do not have to worry about paying for doctor visits during pregnancy and beyond will likely not dispair as much over the overwhelming costs of raising a child.

Hm, not sure where you're getting your information, but Planned Parenthood provides all kinds of info. If you walk in asking for an abortion, they are not going to try to influence you because they trust women to make this decision. They do, however, explain to you exactly what the procedure is to be sure you are educated, and some women change their minds at that point. (You may perceive this as "deceptive," I can't help it if you do.)

Your link doesn't work, but it's perfectly possible in my mind that any developer might be dishonest with the city about what they plan to do. Welcome to development.

But as a previous poster noted, there are millions of women who wouldn't be able to get annual exams and information on contraception without Planned Parenthood. They are so much more than just an abortion factory, a lot of what they do is offer preventative care to low-income women. Early diagnosis of cervical cancer is only possible if you're getting your annual pap smear.

It hardly makes sense to try and lower the number of abortions by attacking the organization that provides birth control.

Planned Parenthood is not in the adoption business so they should not have to refer to adoption agencies. If you want to criticize something, how about those pregnancy centers that seem to have sprung up all around the country? I've been told that they are really fronts for adoption agencies and they pressure the girls who go to them to give their babies up for adoption. They don't offer any kind of financial assistance if she decides to keep her baby.

I can't see the link, but I can only assume you're infering that they are only interested in informing the pregnant woman about abortion? That's an option out there, but do you really think no one knows about adoption, not to mention, the millions of women who have an unplanned pregnancy, go through with it and do receive financial support? No one likes abortion....note I said like, not believe it should be available.

Why do Right to Lifer's not see the point of those women who don't want to go through an unwanted pregnancy. Don't you understand that the only person who should have autonomy over a woman's body is that woman herself. Get over your narrow minded views and realize that with the case of Roe vs Wade women are allowed to abort a pregnancy.
Why don't you right to lifers adopt all those children who are suffering from poverty and neglect. Those who don't have a hope of ever realizing any of their dreams due to horrible life circumstances.
Hypocrites all of you.

They are "deceptive" in their tactics so people like you don't try to prevent a legal building from being built. They play fair.

I can see you don't appreciate them, but as a young woman without health insurance, I certainly did. At least I was able to get pelvic exams and counselling on birth control. I think they provide a wonderful service.

Your link doesn't work. Planned Parenthood Clinics, like Battered Women's Shelters, usually keep as low of a profile as possible due to religious fanatics and other criminals and insane people who bomb and murder people at these places.

These are some of the services that those that oppose Planned Parent Hood want to get rid of.

If you were faced with this unrelenting bigotry to those that think PP is only for abortions wouldn't you be a bit secretive as to some of your goals, even those these goals benefit people.
