Please check owner's manual to be sure your dishwasher is O. K. for china; mine is. Unfortunately the gold trim washes off with time, even on a delicate cycle; otherwise (non gilded) china should be fine in a dishwasher on "china" or "delicate" cycle with dryer on "off". I hope it helps.

Although my dishwasher has a cycle especially to wash fine china, I don't run it through, especially if it is gold trimmed. The bleach in the detergents will damage the gold and etch the porceline over time. I'm not sure using a detergent without bleach would matter, either because of the way the dishwasher sprays on the dishes is too forceful for fragile porceline.

The reason fine china shouldn't go through the dishwasher is because the temperature extremes and the pulsing action of the water can break the dishes.
Gold trimmed dishes should never be run through the dishwasher, over time, the gold leaf will wear off.

The china can go in the dishwasher, but any gold that is applied will wear off in only a few washes. The gold is cold applied and not fired.
I would hand wash any fine china and crystal. The detergent is very caustic and tends to etch crystal and the glaze on china.

China is delicate and most times have delicate trim or pattern that with the heavy duty cycles of the dish washer would ruin them. My parents have china that my dad got from Vietnam when he was in the war there. We use it for all special occasions and it will never touch the dishwasher. Too sentimental if there is damage.

I have a china setting on my dishwasher and it's no problem however, you have gold trim. That is a problem. No matter how well you treat it eventually the gold trim will fade.

I think its a combination of the detergents and the fact that china is generally very fragile. I personally wouldn't try it, but in the end it's up to you.
