Hey "Carved in Stone", why don't you go get some venture capital for YOUR viable idea for alternative energy? ....oh, you don't have one and expect others to do it for you?? I see. You have big ideas for other people to do, but no idea how to implement them? Typical!!

For you: drill Anwar under strict EPA guidelines. Can't do it without fouling the environment, you stop. No ifs ands or buts.
We should also increase our stores of alternative energies, including Nuclear, solar and wind so as to lessen the need for heating oil.
In Exchange: Pull the troops out of the middle east.
The oil companies pay to increase refinery space in the States rather than blocking refinery construction for 30 years and then whining about not having refinery space.
The Auto Makers roll out far more fuel efficient cars. 20 MPG for any new car is Bull s--t! I was getting 30 MPG with my Datsun back in the 80s. If they can't then we let the auto industrydie off here and all start buying from Toyota and Honda.
This deal would:
Pull our troops out of harm's way,
Cut our ties to a region that's hostile to us
Ultimately cut our ties to oil
How about that?

How about conservatives stop using tax dollars to subsidize profitable oil companies, and spend the money on alternative energy research.
Then we wouldn't need troops in the Middle East.

I can't help but notice you're using the troops as leverage, I guess their lives don't mean as much to you as you'd have us believe?
