what position have to be ?
after I install the impeller in outboard mercury 165
I tray to reteren the lower gear-case (link http://www.sterndrive.info/sterndriveparts/lower_gearcase_parts_drawing.html ) and I miss 1 inch to cols ??? perhaps I ues pawer? or I miss som posiation?

walter has a point about the short-hand...i have a headache now. place the shifter in forward. the "L-shaped" lever on top of the lower unit has to face forward too. you might have to turn the prop shaft a little. make sure the water tube is lined up. when you get to the 1" point, turn the prop just a little to align the driveshaft splines and it should pop right in. now, that'll be $100 for the correct answer.

you need help from a pro mechanic ---- and the type written question is not to be in short hand so it will be easier for us to understand what you are trying to tell us about your problem...
