I was told to limit my caffeine intake. I drank caffeine free soda. Child (now 19) is fine.

The best thing to do would really be to cut both out altogether, but since no one really wants to do that, if you are going to drink them, drink both in moderation. Try switching to decaf. coffee and non-caffeinated sodas (e.g. root beer, sprite). Aside from the caffeine in soda, though, the other concerns is the high fructose corn syrup. This isn't something you should be getting a lot of. It will affect yours and your baby's blood sugar. As for diet soda, the artificial sweeteners are also not good to have often. So, in short, it's best to just limit your intake of coffee and any kind of soda.

a small amount of caffiene a day will not harm the baby. I drink a soda every morning just to wake me up. I stay away from it the rest of the day though. As long as it is in intervals and you are not consuming too much you and the baby will be fine (If I recall correctly, you are allowed two 9oz glasses a day, or two 9 oz. cups of coffee a day)

see babycenter.com they have a section "is it safe" on these kind of questions. Ive asked doctor and checked web sites and found that in moderation both are fine. I limit my intake but a iced coffee or blended latte sure is a nice treat. Just remember instead of soda which is about 300 calories you need to make sure you get all of your fruit, veggies, grains, for the day.

It is fine to drink up to 3 cups of coffee a day. That's what my dr. told me, though I don't really drink much coffee. It will not hurt the baby. Make sure you drink lots of water though.

It does not hurt the baby. When I was pregnat with my kids I still drank my coffee in the morning and I actually craved pepsi with one and root beer with the other and both came out just fine.

I drank a cup of coffee every single morning of my pregnancy...and probably a pepsi once a week or so at the most. It was weird, I am not a big pop drinker but when I was prego I wanted it all the time!

just be careful. dont drink too much. i NEVER drank pop, then when i got pregnant coca-cola was the one thing i craved. when i was about 6 months pregnant i got a really bad bladder and kidney infection from all the pop. i kid you not, i thought i was going into labor! i spent the entire weekend in the hospital. and honestly, it was worse pain than labor. then the doctor told me i was more of a high risk pregnancy after that. my daughter was perfectly healthy. 7 lbs 11 oz, 20 inches long. but if i would have known that i would have definately watched my intake.

you can drink it, just limit how much. for example dont drink more than 1 soda or coffee a day, and if you drink a soda, skip the coffee that day.
or better yet, stick to caffeine free stuff like sprite, or decaf coffee.
