just bought a 250 gb internal hard drive and the data connection is different, i wouldn't mind but my computer is only a year old, i think its a way to suck more money out of people to make them upgrade.

So that you will have to buy more expensive cables and adapters to replace the expensive cables and adapters you bought last year.

You got it. It's planned obsolescence. I have hundreds of important files on diskettes, but new computers don't have an "A" drive. They want you to use CD's, but the big CD's will also be obsolete in a few years. All the new peripherals take USB plugs which forces you to upgrade and lose all your stored diskettes. In 10 years all the new things of today will be obsolete. The worst part is that after spending thousands on the best new system today and having it continue to work for 10 years is that in 10 years if something breaks there are no longer any replacement parts. At least automobiles have spare parts made for cars over 75 years old.

Sounds like a SATA / IDE issue. Foolishly, shops assume that people know what will fit their PC, but most people only open their case when forced to.
