Let the stoics say what they please, we do not eat for the good of living, but because the meat is savory and the appetite is keen. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

i-agree,but not the way you think, having read some of "OLE WALLY"S" works i have to say,we do not go the straight and narrow as we are told, but find it easier to do as we please because its easier to take the short cut around that bridge then walk the tight &thin line to an almost certain destanation at the end of time<>IS<>

Gee, isn't that just a very poetic way of saying we like to eat what tastes good? And we do, even when there is a veritable tsunami of evidence these days that most of what "tastes good" is bad for us, and in a great many cases is carrying us relentlessly down a road to our own body-self destruction.

Especially here in the United States, it has never been more true that we are a nation of people digging their grave with their teeth.

Even bulimics eat because the meat is savory...they just choose to throw it back up later!

Unless your taste buds are completely dead, then I would think that it applies to everyone (especially those who find it hard to diet).

So I guess I agree.

I agree and I disagree.

I love the taste of most food, and I eat it because I enjoy it. I cannot eat all that I enjoy, because it loves me even better than I love it. It hangs around, and when too much of it hangs around, I must eat for the good of living.

I'm into comfort food. My biggest downfall is mashed potatoes made from scratch, with bacon drippings, minced onions, sour cream. If there is beef gravy, that's even better.
Yum!
Now when the scale reads 130, its back to no carbs & lots of water.
That's about as healthy as I can stand it.
