Trouble shoot from simple to complex first. 1)make sure that you have a clean air filter,2)enpty float bowl(bottom of carb, if water is in there it won't let gas flow right.) 3)check to make sure that spring return for carb/choke is working.
I have been working on small engines for years and I find that taking the steps outlined will fix 90% of problems. Good luck.

I had a similar situation with my mower. Sounds to me like your carburetor is grimy. you will ought to service the unit. you may attempt some gumout on the engine. Take the air filter out off and get a twig can and spray it into the engine whilst working. i might additionally positioned a capful or 2 of gumout interior the gasoline tank and additionally make certain you purchase a clean can of gasoline.

Sounds like you got debris in the carburetor. You might get by with taking the float bowl off but chances are you will have to clean the carb. Make sure the gas tank is clean also. The dirt is coming from somewhere.

You are obviously not getting enough fuel. You may need to just change out your fuel filter. If that doesn't work, try the Deere website for the engine manual and set your carburetor a little richer.
