Facts help clarify reality but don't necessarily convey the truth. An example is four people go to a football game (fact). Four people watch the entire game and comment on it afterwords (fact). All have different perceptions of the game (fact). The truth about the game was determined differently by all of the four who attended (fact).

Truth can only be determined by individual perception. Facts allow us to get closer to the truth, but never actually arriving at absolute truth. We can only perceive truth.

Ah well - "facts" that were thought to be "true" litter the landscape of history. And today, it's almost a fact that at least some of the "facts" we "know" today will be contradicted in the future.
As an aside, were you aware that an argument's being valid and it's being true are not necessarily the same?
You can have a valid argument and arrive at a false conclusion - and vice versa.
Facts and Truth - two slippery items, and that's a true fact.

Facts are something I always need at least a second opinion on, unless it is about an event I myself witnessed, and even then I'm aware of the 'fact' that later my memory could prove wrong.

So no, I don't think facts are necessarily true.

fact becomes fact only if it's true, if it isn't true then, its not a fact. as a matter of fact, if one statement is said to be a fact but is later in fact found out to be un-true, then the said fact will no longer be a fact. and that's a fact.

A fact in science is something that can be verified by others following a described procedure. A statement of opinion or belief or reporting of an event is not a fact. "This rock is hard" is an opinion. "This rock is harder than granite found in Indiana" is a fact that can be verified by someone with the rock and a piece of granite from Indiana."
"There is no God" can not be verified.

A fact IS truth. If a fact is incorrect, it's not a fact!

What is a fact ? Never saw such thing... if you found one, please send a photo for me to cherish...

On the other hand, some may tell you a fact is what you WANT... therefore, the truth should be what you WANT... If you have WILL enough to stand for your choices...

It depends whos fact it is. for instance if your bank says you have $500 is that a truth if you show you have $450? No because you have extenuating curcumstances.
