From the Telegraph

"Mrs McCann was joined by top Lisbon lawyer Carlos Pinto de Abreu who arrived in Praia da Luz yesterday morning.

The couple is looking into whether the fighting fund to help find Madeleine will be able to pay for his legal advice.

They have been offered support from the British consulate in Portimao but a consul can only sit in with British nationals in police interviews if they have been arrested. "

The nerve of them to find out if the fund can pay for his advice!!! The fund isnt the 'Get Kate and Gerry out of jail free' fund.

I noticed that it's just a source who's supplied this information and they can't actually state the person as quoting a fact - again. This is just hearsay for now.

I don't agree that any funds should be used for any legal expenses that the McCanns have, if they are arrested & charged. The campaign it'self may have incurred other legal costs. They would of had to of used legal advise for all the money related issues. Do you know of any solicitors that would work for free? I don't and believe me I know some money grabbing professionals. It would only be wise to use money from the fund but for that reason only.

If the facts do arise that this is the case. Then for once, I agree with you. I'm sure though, you are mistaken.
Just wait for the facts and then have your say.

If there is something suspect going on, all she is going to do is go back to the apartment and then they will go over her statement to get his right. I hope this is coming to a conclusion now. I feel that they may have known this was going to happen at some stage and had the fund set up just in case. I worry though that we will never know what has become of Madeleine. Most people on here have had her welfare at heart and it has been here that I feel she has been spoken about most. Pro McCann or Anti McCann she has been our main concern. The reason why people have been vitriolic towards the parents is because of their total lack of warmth in the whole mess, also because of their lack of truth in the timespan at the start.

It said in the papers that the DNA was found to belong to someone who shouldn't have been in that part of the apartment,so it can't be anything to do with the parentscan it????

Where in the apartment shouldn't they have been?

It must belong to one of the friends, and the parents are being questioned about it.

The portugese police have already jailed a mother 2 yrs ago who child went missing, laying the blame on her,the top copper in charge of this case is already under suspicion of that, and its said he's in with a child trafficking gang as are loads of the portugese police, the Mc Canns have both been warned they may get set up too,see... we can all speculate, but no-one knows,no-one,not even you Dave.

Disgusting pair. Genuine people from all walks of life.... rich or poor gave money to that fund in good faith that it would be used for what it was titled... to find Madeleine. It's getting money by deception and if they had said from the start it would have been used to pay for legal advice then they wouldn't have got a penny. May the truth come out soon and stop this stupid charade.

This just doesn't stop, every time you think they can't get any worse, they do.
Something needs to be done about this fund, to make sure it's actually going to help children who need it. Those who donated did not do so to pay for a lawyer for potential suspects.

Good question dave and good answer Lady isis - the money should be used to find Madeleine and nothing else, it should be frozen and not used for them to defend themselves. Cheek of the pair.

I sincerely hope that they are not allowed to use these funds for any legal fees. This is not the reason why people gave so readily to their fund.

Surely they earn enough between them to pay their legal fees? How are they planning on paying for the solicitor when they sue that paper??

Ha ha ha ha! I'm glad that's got your back up anyway. But what the f**k has it got to do with you anyway?

You will be one of the gullible morons who gave money probably, buying tacky shite off the website and that.

Good, I hope the McCanns pis* it up against the wall.

That's not right at all. That money was given by the general public in the belief that it would be used to find Madeleine, not pay for the McCanns lawyers. In light of the fact that the McCanns are looking more likely to be called as suspects I find that very, very dodgy.
