I dowloaded ONECARE and WINDOWS DIFENDER, and deleted first one becuase it was trial version, now an error message pops up all the time " 0X800106BA" i did research how to solve the problem, basically i have to reinstall the second one, but i can NOT, got a message " MS OneCare Live has been found. Please remove the product and rerun the setup", and i found " windows _onecare_evt.evt" in window\system32\ config " which i can delete, it is telling me that this file is being used by another person, any idea?

Your Registry still has those files in them.

It's dangerous to edit your Registry yourself (if you delete the wrong thing you could disable your whole system!) so, run a Registry Cleaner to get the files left behind by the Remove process that you did to delete the first program.

I use TweakNow RegCleaner. It's simple, yet VERY effective and __quite safe__!!!!!

Get TweakNow RegCleaner from here:

http://www.tweaknow.com/RegCleaner.html

BTW: Both of those M$ progs are garbage. You REALLY do NOT want them!

I suggest you get CCleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware se Personal, in addition to your Anti-virus. Just "google" each one to find the download page for it. ;)

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

If you were to delete that windows\system32\config... that is your registry.... AHHHHHH!!!! no delete registry......!!

WARNING!!!! modifying your registry can cause your system not to boot...or other bad stuff... edit at your own risk

go to start run then type in "regedit"
click ok

with it opened do a search (ctrl+f) for "ONECARE" you might be able to delete the keys on which you find onecare.

then when the installer looks in the registry it will not see it and continue

Try starting your PC in Safe Mode (Tapping F8) as it starts.
See if yon can delete from there.

If not install Unlocker http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
Then a right click on the file to unlock or delete.

Once uninstalled run Ccleaner (Issues section)
