If you are a man: Go with a conservative suit or sport coat (blue, gray darker color) and a new but not flashy tie. Shined shoes, conservative hair cut. Hide the tatoos. Ditch the earring and any other piercings.
For women: Much of the same applies to a woman. Business-like attire, or at least a dress that is conservative. Look like a mom.

No need to look it up on the Internet! Keep away from black and red. Black gives the impression you are at a wake, and as true as it may be, it doesn't sit well with the judge or the arbitrators. Red is the color of passion but is also the color of halting something or bringing too much attention to yourself, neither of which would be good to portray in a court of law. Wear light blue or green. Both of these colors tend to put everyone at ease, especially the judge and arbitrators. Light blue gives you an air of intelligence and self restraint. You want to give the impression of serenity, patience, good will and resolve, all of which light blue or green convey. I hope the best for you since these tribulations can leave a bad taste in your mouth!

If you are a man - wear a dark suit and tie with a white or blue shirt. Do not show up in jeans, khakis or short sleeve shirts. Always have a suit jacket on in court.
If you are a woman, wear a conservative woman's suit, or other appropriate business outfit. Do not be overly flashy. Do not be overly sexy. Skirts should be below or at the knee, and necklines should be conservative. No undergarments showing. No jeans, no flip flops, no low rider pants, nothing overly tight.
Get to court early. You will be able to survey the area and make yourself more comfortable. Find your attorney and stick with him or her. Hopefully, he or she will have prepped you for the basics. Ask where you should sit when you enter the courtroom (counsel table? front spectator seats? Back? Left side? Right side?).
Typically the "plaintiff" in a divorce case always sits on the side nearest the jury box (where the jury sits). The "defendant" sits on the side farther away.
When the judge enters or you are told to do so, you stand up. Then you sit down promptly when told to. Turn your cell phone off or make sure it makes no noise at all, and do not answer it in the courtroom.
Address the judge as "your honor." If you are answering a question, always answer it directly first, and add explanations later. Typically, do not speak unless you are asked a question. Look to your attorney to prompt you when you should answer.

It's not rocket science. The Judge and the court officials are not interested in fashion style. But it does make a good impression when a person comes to court dressed quietly and respectfully.... no dazzling colors, no cleavage, no tons of flashy jewellery and accessories. Just something simple and not flamboyant. It shows people that your attitude of mind is like your attire.... serious, businesslike, and clearly recognising the dignity of the occasion and the authority of the court.

Color has nothing to do with it & if the judge basis his decision on the color you are wearing, then I feel sorry for all of you!
Wear Black pants with a button up & a jacket or just a button up. You are going to be a nervous wreck in the courtroom & you want to look cool & confident.
(I went through it so I know)

Is there a best color? I think as long as youre dressed nice, thats all that matters. As nerve racking as custody can be, remember the judge is not there looking at what you wear, but he/she is there for the best interest of the children.

Yeah, I would say a darker blue not red. Red is a power color you don't want to come off as pushy or overwhelming. You want to be perceived as calm and easy to get along with.

I am not sure what color you should wear, maybe blue or black. You just need to look decent. Be sure to shave, brush your hair and look presentable. Wear a suit and tie. First impressions mean everything!
