I'm considering going and taking my 11 year old girl. I don't want to take her if it's too risque for her.

"Mamma Mia" is one of the best musicals to come out in quite a while, and it's not very risque. You should be fine taking your 11-year-old. Just be sure to stick around after the curtain call -- trust me on this one.

Totally appropriate. My wife and I took our daughter, maybe 12-13 at the time. The story is mature in nature but there is no nudity or sexual context to it. Trust me, the stuff on TV today is many times more risque than this play.

You should know that it's about a young woman just before her wedding--she finds her mother's diary and discovers that any one of three men could be her father. She invites all of them to the wedding and tries to figure out which is really "dad." If the implication of the mom character sleeping around years ago bothers you, don't take your daughter.

Having said that--I teach middle school and wouldn't hesitate to take my 6th graders. It's a fun, sweet show and the plot fits the music well.

It's a great show...read two reviews of it on my web page:

http://www.sacnews.net/sacstage/mama.html

http://www.sacnews.net/sacstage/mama2.html

and the official web site at:

It's also being made into a movie which I believe is to be released next year.
