I think he tries to believe sometimes, but events and hormones get him way down, to where nearly everything is phony, even God. He dreams of better things at times, sometimes even does them, but then feels tricked or otherwise foolish and goes whiny again... I just reread part of the book and it IS great, but the boy does whine.
Can't blame him; he had reason to and he was young.
If I keep whining though, tell me to get lost!

He was a confused teenager that was going through a lot of changes... I don''t think he was much worried about the existence of God in that moment.. So I'd say no.

I am not sure but I would guess Agnostic.
