I just have the hard drive not the whole computer and I am trying to find out which wire or connector I need to buy to be able to pull my files of the laptop's hard drive.

the easiest way is to purchase a cheap usb enclosure for a 2.5" drive ...

You can buy adaptors for the 2.5 hard drive that plugs on the end pins of the laptop hard drive, and the adaptor has a power connector. Some sell with drive rails too. I found mine on ebay for $6

Get a hard drive enclosure to USB adapter.

Take a look at this one.

Then you can use that old hard drive as a backup, and it would be transportable.

Get a USB hard drive enclosure.

You need one for a 2.5" drive, and you need to identify if the drive is PATA/IDE or is SATA.
