Does he leave the bathroom door open when he has a BM and make load moaning sounds?.
Sometimes they will talk about what's going on,like "that feels a lot better"or "that was a big one".or he will point back at the bathroom as he comes out and say"I did a stnky"
These are just a few signs.

If you're serious, then I would get some premarital counseling, the kind where to take personality tests, etc.. Perhaps you can also slip in a I Q test for good measure....

Just because he MAY be mildly retarded doesn't mean he is stupid or did poorly in school. Geez people. If this is serious, which I really hope it isn't, have him tested at a mental health center...talk to his FAMILY...there are things you can do.....it's not that difficult....

realistically are there any family members you feel close enough to ask? Do you know his school history? That may give you a clue--ask to see old report cards or stuff from back then. Good luck!

He could just be emotionally simple,which can be an attractive quality. Go by his level of education and employment for an idea as to basic intellect.

If you love him does it matter? Talk to his mom or someone in his family to see if he was in Sp. Ed. in school, or had an IEP.

If he continually says things like "nucular", "liberry", and "I seen that"...you may want to have him checked. Also if you have to remind him to bathe regularly and/or brush his teeth, it's a bad sign.
