The sixties is where it all began. All the best ideas and innovations, songs, bands, the whole of the modern music scene in some way owes it all to the sixties. Guitar based pop would not exist, had it not been for the beat groups of the sixties.
When rock 'n roll came in the '50's, it died sadly, with Alan Freed, to be replaced by white middle class shmaltz Pat Boone easy listening. Only when the british invasion from '63 onwards, charged into the USA, did rock ' roll become king once again. Even blues legend, Muddy Waters said "Thank God for the Beatles", keeping the spirit of rock n' roll alive and kicking.
I can't blame contributors on this page for picking the '80's as their favourite decade, as that is purely down to when they were born. I too, was a teenager in the early '80's, but listening back to the music of the time doesn't compare to the excitement, quality, innovation and pure originality of the sixties, the greatest decade of modern music....
Oops!

Very carefully since recently, was going to give a sarcastic/caustic answer, then 'looked' at avatar and it was a youngster, who had obviously not put the question quite correctly. So I answered properly.
