Im a senior right now at UMD and currently looking at grad schools. Should I be more worried about how well I do on my GMAT prior to looking for schools? Or should I aim for a score to obtain an optimal position at getting into a grad school?

In general, you ought to try to get into the best MBA program that you can. Getting into a ranked program will greatly enhance your salary and your opportunities. The higher the ranking, the more improvement you can expect. A good GMAT score will help get you into a good B-School. But so do good grades.

The top schools want you to have between three and five years of work experience. That gives you plenty of time to prepare for the GMATs. Right now, you should be worried more about getting as high a GPA as possible.

In my opinion, full time MBA programs that take a lot of people without work experience won't do much for you.
