All are worthy but Hoffman might be the only 1st ballot selection. Vizquel will make it 2nd or 3rd ballot because of his defense, the second coming of Ozzie. Thome might have a problem but I would vote for him. Ortiz and Vlad still have some years to prove they are worthy and Kent will make it because of his dominance at his second base position.

HALL OF FAME WORTHY OR NOT:

My personal opinions....

Manny Ramirez - No
Jeff Kent - No
Chipper Jones - He's a "tweener".
David Ortiz - No
Pedro Martinez - No
John Smoltz - Yes
Pudge Rodriguez - No
Trevor Hoffman - Yes
Vladamir Guerrero - Yes
Jim Thome - Yes
Frank Thomas - No
Omar Vizquel

Manny Ramirez - No way. His batting isn't enough to get him in. He may be one of the worst fielders I've ever seen. He is one of the biggest disgraces to ever play baseball. This is a story for another day though....

Jeff Kent - I'm not sure if he'll even be considered

Chipper Jones - All-Star? Yes. Hall Of Famer? I don't know. I think he's a "tweener". Great enough to be an All-Star each year, but not quite worthy of the hall.

David Ortiz - Ok, this is just laughable. Ortiz is extremely overrated.

Pedro Martinez - Unfortunately, he'll probably get in.

John Smoltz - Shoe-in.

Pudge Rodriguez - If the steroid accusations don't kill his chances, then he'll probably get in.

Trevor Hoffman - I think he has a good chance.

Vladamir Guerrero - He'll most likely get in.

Jim Thome - He has a great chance at getting in.

Frank Thomas - I think he'll need a few more decent seasons to even be considered.

Omar Vizquel - I think he has a good chance.

manny ramirez - definitely

jeff kent - no

chipper jones - probably

david ortiz - not yet. He's only been good for about 5 years

pedro martinez - yes, but not a slam dunk because of longevity issues

john smoltz - Yes, but his mixed role as reliever/starter might cloud picture, even though he was outstanding in each role

pudge rodriguez - Definitely. Catchers are underrepresented in the hall and he was the best at his position for over a decade.

trevor hoffman - Hmmmmm. It's hard to tell how the modern relievers will be treated. There's a lot of guys like Hoffman, Rivera, Smith who are up there on career save list. I'd give Rivera the nod over Hoffman because of his playoff records.

vladamir guerrero*sp* - Needs some more great years in post-steroid era to rise above a generation of overblown sluggers

jim thome - I sure hope so. He's a good friend of a friend of mine and I hear he is one of the best people on the planet. It seems he's always a Clemente award finalist. He's a big slugger in an era of big sluggers, though and I don't know how he stands out above the rest. I really hope he gets in, though.

frank thomas - Yes. It looked like he was missing his chance but he's putting in some good years at the end of his career.

omar vizquel - Yes, if enough writers pay attention.

Manny - he will be

Kent - he will be just because of his production FOR A SECOND BASEMEN. If he played another position, he might not be.
Chipper - I think he will, yes.

Big Papi - He's a DH (gets you no love from the voters, but he is SO clutch that he just might). Jury is still out on him. I think he is worthy, but I think Ron Santo is worthy too.

Pedro - gotta be. I think he's a shoe-in.

Smoltz - absolutely.

Pudge - I doubt it. He's got amazing stats and a wicked arm for throwing out baserunners (stealing and throwing behind them), but he is a steroids guy.

Hoffman - he's in. done deal.

Vlad - I'd say yes. He's not done yet and will make if he stays healthy and plays long enough.

Thome - ooh... I don't know. He has 500 home runs, right? But still... in this era, that means less... boy my gut says no.

Thomas - I think he makes it based soley upon he was the single most dominant hitter in baseball for about 4 or 5 years in a row in the nineties. He is a borderline call, but i think he makes it.

Vizquel - he's in for consistency, longevity and incredible defensive skills. Absolutely. (I watched Greg Maddux strike him out for #3000 at midnight in Wrigley a couple years ago - what a great moment). BTW - Maddux... Hall Of Famer.

Manny, Ken, Chipper, Pedro, Smoltz. Pudge, Hoffman, Thomas and Vizquel.

Ortiz has a long way to go and so does Vlad.

I dont think Thome has a shot.

Yes -- Ramirez, Chipper, Pedro, Smoltz, Pudge, HOFfman (his name gives it away), Vlad, Thome, Thomas.

Maybe, not done yet -- Ortiz, Kent.

Not done yet, and *I* don't see it, but others just luv'im and I'm not going to argue over it -- Vizquel.

Manny - yes (certainly not because of his intellect)
Kent - yes (If Joe Morgan is in so should Kent)
Chipper - Absolutely yes
Ortiz - No (DH's are not complete ball players)
Martinez - No (5 inning pitchers don't deserve HOF status)
Smoltz -Yes (200 plus wins and 154 career saves!)
Pudge - Yes (Best catcher of his day)
Hoffman - Yes (500 plus saves should mean something.)
Vladamir - Absolutely yes
Thome - No (Except for his strength he's only average.)
Thomas - No (Except for his strength he's only average.)
Virquel - Yes (Has better career offensive and defensive stats than Ozzie Smith.)
