Depending on the Manufacturer and age of the Refrigerator, there are in-line filters . Your owners manual will show you exactly where it's located and how to replace it. Sometimes they are inside behind a removeable panel on the back of the refrigerator, sometimes they are visable on the outside. The Filter tubes are usually white or off white in color, about 1 1/2" in width and about 12" long. The water supply tubes are attached to these filters and the water supply lines are 1/4" clear or opaque/clear plastic tubing. The filters are made with activated charcoal inside and after 8-12 months ude, they get clogged up with sediment and rust from your well pump. You can buy replacement filters at Home Depot or Lowes or any hardware store.Good Luck!

Do you mean as a normal method of operation or as a malfunction?
Normal - there is an arm that will pivot upwards as the ice in the bin grows. At a certain point the height of the pivoted arm tells the ice machine to stop producing.
Abnormal - water flow stopped, motor no longer working

It has a small metal arm that raises when it dumps ice. After the ice is dumped it slowly lowers if the ice stops the arm movement it stops making ice. after you fill a couple galsses with ice the arm continues to go down until it reaches the side of the ice maker and fills back up and begins the cycle again... confused???

Are you asking why yours is not working or what is the mechanism for shutting it off when the ice holder is full?
Throw in a speck more detail to get more answers that are relevant.
