Use a soft cloth (cotton or microfiber) dampened with water. If you have hard water or sediment in it use bottled water.

If water does not lift work try a soft soap solution (liquid hand soap)

Make sure that the cloth is damp, but not so damp that water runs down the screen. Water behind the bezel is a bad idea.

There are several screen cleaner products available too.

Do not use paper towels. These are quite abrasive and can damage your screen.
Do not use dish detergent. This contains abrasives.
Do not use household cleaners, including Windex etc. These can contain chemicals that can damage the screen.

Exactly. Water is best.

I have used eyeglass cleaner towelettes. They are convenient and leave no steaks. The towelettes are a bit small but does the trick. The key thing is... clean a spot as soon as you notice it. Older spots don't clean off very easily.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

iKlear works too - it's a bit more expensive, but it's aimed directly at LCD screens and laptops.
