I don't agree, not 100% of the time. It's not always better not to know, sometimes, it's better to know and be able to prepare before rather than be taken completely by surprise. Here's your star.

There is a reason certain sayings stick around. But it is all in the application of course. There are some things I would definitely want to know and others I would rather not have known.
So, yeah- sometimes (in the way the saying is intended), no- other times (when taking the saying and pondering every aspect of how it could be applied and realizing there are some things not known that could be devastating not to know).

Sayings aren't useful for every occasion. For example, would you rather not know that a close relative has been seriously injured in an accident? Yet would you rather not know that same relative nearly died during the operation to save his/her life? Choosing words and expressions is an art lost on the pain of ignorance.

Yes I agree with the saying; What you don't know doesn't hurt you! Simply because once you know then is when it hurts you! But everyone will say that they would rather know what it is! and thats just human nature!

THIS DEPENDS ON THE ITEM i DON'T KNOW YET. The answer will also vary from person to person. Would I want to know if my spouse is cheating on me. Personally I would rather she tell me before I found out another way. 10 other people would probably answer that another way. Would it hurt me not knowing? Physically no it wouldn't but If people knew and were talking about it without my knowledge then it could hurt me mentally.

Why do I think you are talking about men's indiscretions? I think that what you don't know doesn't hurt you is a bit of a myth. . If it relates to adultery, often we suspect and the uncertainty is terrible and undermines our confidence.
It can also relate to our children's behaviour and especially teenagers. Again, we can be blissfully unaware of our offsprings behaviour until it all goes belly up.
My answer seems pessimistic and is based on my own experience.

Depends on the situation. If my kid is a druggie, yeah not knowing still hurts me as he falls deeper into addicition
If my wife cheated on me once 10 years ago and still lives with the regret and me, not knowing doesn't hurt. Knowing would only hurt worse and ultimately cause a mess.

It depends entirely on the situation.
Of course you can be harmed without your knowledge; somebody could cheat you or burglarize your house or lie to you or poison you. You would know eventually, thought, that something bad had happened.
Some areas of ignorance will not harm you though. For instance, it will not harm you not to know that you aunt was a whore in her youth. There is no benefit to this knowledge, and you simply don't need to know it.

what you dont know can wind up hurting you. I didnt' know my boyfriend was cheating on me for a month and that hurt. Not the cheating but the lies.
We resolved our issues and are working (still) to regain trust. I feel that statement is a cowards way of building a loophole so they can keep playing.
