Yes, especially on important issues like Capitol punishment, the EU and ID cards. The fact is that most laws are dictated from Brussels via the rubber stamps of the, so called, European Parliament. The fact is that the only referendum we need is whether we stay or leave the EU. This is because all the main parties are so up the EU that they do not even discus it at general elections and then go ahead with giving Brussels more and more say over our lives.
If we do not get out soon law and order will break down courtesy of the Court of Human Rights which prefers the criminals rights to that of the law abiding public.

Question s if referendums will be slanted and asked in such a way that you will have little choice but to vote the way the government wants. What is needed is for an MP to listen and remain in contact not only with his party but those of his/her constituency and voting accordingly. A referendum cuts out the peoples representative and is a short cut to mob rule.
Beware of public consultations by a government they are a sham. Just like this government in fact

Depends what you call and important issue...a planning application in my village is a hell of a lot more important to me than an new airport in London...do we have a referendum on that? What criteria do you use? No we elected the Politicians let them get on with it...just choose your politician wisely....(like a man waiting to be shot, I shall now wait for all the thumbs down.....weep weep)

Yes. the Politicians know we trust none of them, that's why no one votes.
A referendum would have a proper and representative turn out as we would actually be getting a say.
The cost would be peanuts in comparison to the cost of policing the riots and civil disobedience that many of their more one sided and stupid decisions have cost in recent history.
