I inherited money when my Grandma died. The will was read 3 Weeks ago, and the lawyer said it would only be 2 weeks before I received my check. The lawyer isn't returning my calls, and I am not sure how long I should wait.

Probate laws vary greatly across the states. In KS, a probate of a will should take about 4 months to complete. That is assuming there are no contests regarding the will, such as spousal share, taxes, creditors or others. If the attorney said you would be getting a check and now won't return your calls, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Keep in mind that the lawyer is probably representing the estate, and things may have come up that have delayed closing.

If you believe the attorney is doing something illegal or improper with the estate, you can hire your own attorney and get involved directly.

If you believe any lawyer has violated the code of ethics, you may file a written complaint with the state's disciplinary committee.

Sorry you are in this situation. I hope there is some money left after many hours of work in setteling this affair.

That really depends on if there are any outstanding legal issues which must be resolved with the will or the estate first.
