Empirical evidence is what you can observe... while numbers based on a set experiment give you a more definite answer (experimental method), in psychology and sociology this is not always an option... in such cases you have to use empirical evidence and there are strict guidelines in how you can do this to lessen the effects of observer bias and interference.
