Politics and media is so often about misleading, misrepresenting, and even lying. People see these things and become disgusted and rightfully so. If it were possible to penalize these behaviors publicly then people would take more interest.

Politics developed into today's sorry state because the majority of the American people became placid in respect to their government. Life was going so well that the people felt their elected representatives would perform their elected responsibilities without any over site from the people. Hence the steady drop in the numbers of people voting. We felt we didn't have to vote, everything would continue without our participation. Those we trusted to govern for our benefit soon discovered that the disinterest by the majority of people opened the door for bribery, special interest donations, government paid vacations disguised as numerous fact finding junkets, donations from Corporate America to keep their interest in the forefront of the politicians voting concerns. Today, 75% of the voting public are members special interest groups. You will find that lawyers vote, doctors vote, executives vote, investors vote, politicians vote. Those that don't vote; minimum wage people, people that are disgusted with their place in life, the poor, the unemployed etc. The sad part of this is the very people that don't vote are the people that SHOULD vote. These are the people that would benefit the most from having congress cleaned out & good people, people that are interested in "what's good for America", not what they can do for special interest & the benefits special interest provides for them. I am very much in favor of replacing all current members of congress. Most of these representatives & senators have been in office way to long. They don't adhere to "the will of the people", they know what is best for the people. These people should be voted OUT!!!!

Politics have always been unpopular. As the saying goes, " There is no such thing as an honest politician." I feel completely revamping
our government set up would help.

I believe more people would take an interest in politics if they felt it was something that benefited them. The politicians I've come to know of are concerned with their own well being and not mine, my families, or anyone I know for that matter. People need to feel that someone actually represents them.
