Have always wondered that...and it happened again at lunch...a white girl skurried across and waved then a black lady walked like exceptionally slow and never acknowledging that I was there waiting on her.

It's passive-aggressive behavior. It's another way of "sticking it to the 'man'".

I was just in Vienna, Austria. My taxi driver was Iranian. He paused to allow a French lady to cross the street, who smiled broadly, and waved to him in appreciation. A short time later, an Arab lady just darted out in front of the cab, and then proceeded to walk at a snail's pace, just to be an irritation. It's like she derived pleasure from being an impediment.

To my surprise, the Iranian started talking about how low class and unpleasant Arabs are (I had momentarily forgotten that Iranians are Persians, not Arabs!).

I think this type of behavior is typical passive-agressive, where the person feels more important by frustrating the movements of someone else.

It s not just black people. For me, it s mostly women and men who are trying to make a pass at me. Depending on how they were raised, where they re from, what kind of people they ve been around, and their own personal beliefs, people will treat you like a second-class citizen or higher class citizen based on what you look like. For me, it s mostly women of all races who purposefully slow down when they walk in front of my car and men who are trying to get my attention.
