I have a friend that is selling his 1989 Accord. I'm considering buying it but the clutch is out. How much should it cost me for a basic clutch replacement?

At my shop in SC I would charge between 500 and 600 dollars parts and labor. We only use new products, not remanufactured and give a 12 month warranty. The difference in cost is whether or not the flywheel needs machining to smooth it out. (like waiting too long to get brakes replaced and having to resurface or replace rotors.) The cost around the country can vary by market, but should not be more than 200 more any market I can think of. Hope this helps.

Anywhere from $500 to $1000.

You will want to replace the 3 pieces that can be purchased together.

The pressure plate...the clutch plate...and the throwout bearing.

REMOVE AND REPLACE THE TRANS-AXLE ASSEMBLY, RESURFACE THE FLYWHEEL, REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY COMPLETE.

$750.00 TO $1000.00

My guess would be 600-800 dollars

If you can do your own work--150-300 in parts, maybe less...
