Well...I have been saying Magglio all along because he means more to his team than A-Rod to his...that being said I don't believe Magglio should get it if the Tigers don't make the playoffs. So right now it looks like A-Rod because the Yankees are in the front to make the playoffs of those two teams. Now if the Tigers end up getting the Wild Card I definitely think Magglio should be MVP.

MVP stands for MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. The Yankees wouldn't be a playoff team without Arod and they would probably be under .500 for the season. With him they will make the playoffs. Magglio is having a fantastic season, however with him in the lineup they miss the playoffs this year. If they don't have him in the lineup this year they STILL miss the playoffs. Look at the #s. Somebody already posted them so you don't have to go far to find the stats. Magglio ONLY leads Arod in batting avg. Arod produces more runs and more offense, plus he has over 20 stolen bases and is playing a phenomenal 3rd base this year. You have to be KIDDING about Arod not getting the MVP award this year.

As of right now, as long as the Yankees are playoff bound (currently lead the AL WC by 3 games) ARod will get the MVP with the numbers he has put up. However, if the Yankees happen to screw themselves out of the playoffs...I can safely say remember 2002? ARod lead the league in almost every offensive category that year, but played for the losing Rangers, last place or not if the Yankees don't make the playoffs he will not get it. That year Miguel Tejada got it for having great numbers but no where near ARod's. With that said, here are the MVP scenarios:
Yanks make playoffs -- ARod MVP
Tigers make playoffs, Yanks fall -- Mags MVP
Tigers and Yanks both fall out of playoffs -- Vlad MVP

While Ordonez has had a marvelous season, A-Rod is batting .312 with 48 HR's and 134 RBI's. It can also be said that without A-Rod, the Yankees are a sub-.500 team and would be competing with the Orioles for 4th in the AL East at this point in the season.
To put it into perspective, Justin Morneau had an average of .321 with 34 HR's and 130 RBI's and also carried his team last year when he won the MVP. A-rod's numbers will clearly be better.
While I like Ordonez and I don't really like A-Rod, if I go by the numbers, A-Rod should win.

A-Rod is going to get it without a doubt. I think Magglio deserves strong consideration, but really, there is no comparison.
Sure, the Yankees wont get out of the ALDS again this year if they even make it at all, but still, A-Rod is a lock for the MVP.

I think Magglio Ordonez has the best shot at competing with A-Rod, it should be unanimously him when you look at the overall numbers he's putting up. I'd also have to put Vladimir Guerrero in this discussion too just because the Angels wouldn't be anywhere near as good without him in the lineup and in the field. A couple darkhorse guys that I can see winning are Victor Martinez, Carlos Pena, Justin Morneau, and possibly Ichiro Suzuki.

Arod MVP based on the numbers. maggs will get some votes but its Arod to lose. where would yankees be without Arod. Just look at the monthof April when Arod carried the yankees. maggs is leading the league in batting but barely. it will may be a close vote.

A-rod will win MVP easily with Jorge Posada coming in 2nd. Sorry, but Mags stats will end up being meaningless since Tigers won't make playoffs. It's tough to be valuable when your team is going to be spending October in the same places that the D-Rays will.

Let's compare.
Ordonez .310, 25 HR, 120 RBI -- very good
Rodriguez .312, 48 HR 134 RBI - approaching historic
Ordonez' team is in third place in wild card standings. Rodriguez's team in 3 games in front of wildcard and he carried the team though a lot of the year.
While Maglio deserves credit for another supurb year, I think Arod is a clear favorite in this race. I won't be surprised if he is a unanimous choice.
