I just got a new job a month ago. Its an office job that requires me to stay alert, active, happy all the time. I am currently tried to conceive (I think I have hit the baby joackpot this time!!) and I am afraid that when I do break the news about a baby to my new boss that he will think I am not good enough for the job and hire some new young, sexy chick...after all, my looks is what got me the job. Is there somewhere...a website or book that someone recommends that discusse the discrimination laws towards pregnant employees? Serious answers only! Thanks

To answer someone's question....statement... or whatever. I am unsure whether I am preggo now or not....but regardless of the outcome, I intend on becoming pregnant sometime in the near future. That why I am even bothering asking. I would like to know the answer for my own reference. Thanks all who gave intelligent, actual answers.

The only thing that I do know, it is against the law to fire someone for being pregnat or for there race. If he fires you then collect unemployment from him till you get it figured out. But really it is against the law for him to do that.

you don't suddenly become a hideous beast once you are pregnant. Secondly, yes there are laws that prevent discrimination based on pregnancy but you can be fired if you get so sick or tired that you can't perform even with numerous special treatments given by your employer. I'd do a yahoo search on discrimination laws in your state and go from there....good luck.

If your boss fires you because you are pregnant he or she can get into alot of trouble. This is discriminating... Do you have a personel department at your job, try to find out from them. WHat the terms are for pregnancy.. Good Luck!!!

I bet there is. I'd research it on the web. Go to a political law website. Keep in mind though you can still be cute and pregnant!

If there are any problems when you tell your boss, you need to see a lawyer. I would keep good notes and details on things that happen in your office before and after you tell him.

look into your businesses policies. under their harrassment/discrimination section....if pregnancy is listed under there than they can get into trouble if they fire you for being pregnant. Only thing is...they could easily lie and come up with some other reason to fire you so they dont get into trouble and proving discrimination would be harder to do.

It is illegal for them to fire you because you're pregnant. If they do you can sue them for everything they're worth.
