email - Heaven forbid a child with a weak bladder should be educated!

Local standards? You mean the "We won't teach you math if you have a weak bladder" standards?
or the "I don't see what hearing letter sounds has to do with reading" local standards?

IEP provides for testing and placing a child at a level appropriate to each - if children with different abilities are being provided the same goals - somebody is not doing their job.

Because he believes the free market is best in guaranteeing the best education, healthcare and chance to reduce and prevent poverty. That's the libertarian stance, government has no legitimate role but police and security.
I don't agree because I reject social Darwinism and that's what his economic policies would come down to in the real world.

You are assuming that a "National standard" is absolutley necessary for educating handicapped and Learning Disabled kids. How about having a state funded education for handicapped and learning disabled kids?

Having the federal government meddle with education is not a good idea. Why? Because of all the inefficiencies, most of the tax-payer's money goes to waste and into bureaucrats' pockets rather than putting the money into good use where it matters most: education. It is better to provide that special ed service at the state level.

Check out this link about the degradation of education in American public schools.

Because he believes in ending national standards for most things and giving that power to the states so that life in America isn't one size fits all. Look at Europe, socialist policies work in Europe because they are done on a small scale in small countries. Name one country that is the size of America in terms of area, economy, population and cultural diversity where socialism has worked even halfway decently! I am handicapped and while I don't think he would be the best candidate for the benefit of the disabled in the short run, he would be good for the country as a whole in the long run.

these programs are broken and should be left up to schools and communities.

right now we hold the same standards to all special needs children. my wife is supposed to teach multiplication and division to kids who can't use the bathroom by themselves.

Ron Paul believes in education, just not at a federally standardized level, a proven failure.

sorry, that wasn't my point. i'm saying special needs kids who are unable to care for themselves should not be held to some standards the federal governent dictates. i know, my wife is a special needs teacher. because of No Child Left behind teachers must teach math concepts to autistic kids who are all different. one may be able to do complex math while others can't count to 10. but the government holds them to the same standard.

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT A WEAK BLADDER!!!!!
I'M TALKING ABOUT RETARDED CHILDREN!!!!!
i was trying to be subtle, and the bathroom thing was an example i chose to use.

He's an ideological Libertarian. He wants to de-regulate everything without any assessment of whether each unique action will produce a positive or negative outcome for the public. That's what ideologues do.

Becuase the government would actually do worse in that child's case. Haven't you seen the bureacracy? Is the child better off? I think you should start reading more about this issues and try to see Ron Paul's views on it.

But, the Dept. of Education is technically NOT a Consitutional duty of the federal government. How sad that we now define federal powers and duties by what the federal bureaucrats dictate.

I do not agree with his stances but his view is not because he hates the mentally handicapped, he feels government intervention gets in the way of things and wants to minimize government. His thinking is if it is done privately there will be better results than if it is funded and controlled by the government.

Those national standarts just hurt handicapped and disabled kids. These programs have never worked in favor of handicapped/disabled kids.Government has robbed all these kids.

This, like all the rest of his ideas, is crazy. Congress wouldn't let him get away with it if by some miracle he were to win, anyway.
