I am planning to have a Princess Breelyn b-day party for my daughter. She will be turning 3 in Nov. I dont want it to be the theme of the Disney Princess. I want it to me more focused on my daughter. (Like Princess Breelyn, thats her name of course). Any suggestions or ideas would be great. I plan to make a castle cake and possible do the entrance to the party like a castle, (but how?) And how do I make the house look like a castle? Of course I dont mean the whole house, Just maybe the room the party will be in! I am going to dress her in a beautiful dress & have her wear a crown. But what else!!? I need more ideas!! I think I have the invation wording figured out. I am planning on playing pass the tiara (like hot potato) & playing pin the crown on the princess. (Like pin the tail on the donkey) But I want more, what about food, a few more games, decorations to make it look like a castle, favors, etc.

It all depends on your budget. My niece is mad about princesses, too. One thing I've noticed is that what passes for magical beauty for tots can seem garish and cheap to us adults, so that helps with the decoration.

What I recommend (if you have a little money) is yards of cheap tulle to swathe the tables, chairs, and to hang from the room's curtain rods or even hanging in swags around the room. It doesn't really have to look like a castle as we understand it, just fantasy-like.

I would also shanghai her existing dolls and stuffed animals to be her royal subjects. If you have a good-natured dog, it can be a lady in waiting or a royal page.

Are the guests invited to wear a costume? If not, it would be nice to have extra tulle for them to have their own little skirts or capes, plus cheap crowns for the lot.

The rest is atmosphere. Maybe speak in super fake Olde English like they do in Renaissance fairs?

As for activities, nearly any regular game can ge changed to something "royal". Instead of Simon Says, it's Queen So-and-So says.

If budget is no consideration and you have good weather, you can even rent an inflateable princess castle for the kids to bounce in.

Remember in the end that kids just want to chase each other and have adventures. Playing with the new loot the birthday child receives is always on the list, too. 3 years is a little young for a lot of structure, so I don't know that they'd sit still for more than 2 games anyway.

Good luck and have fun!

Great ideas already given. Just to add to the decorations, you could make the front entrance to the house or even just the doorway to the room from the other room look like a castle by using large card board boxes (like refrigerator boxes - you can get them from an appliance store). Just slit the boxes open so they are big sheets of card board and then use chalk or paint and color a castle like design, with large cement blocks and turrets and maybe even some clinging vines (I'm not really that artistic). :-)

For the favors, you may want to consider getting those personalized candy bars. They run about 1.50 each, but you can have them say Princess Breelyn and the date, etc. with a princess design. Then she can keep a wrapper for a keepsake, too. They are very cute. You can get them at http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com/custom-chocolate-bars.html

Hope that helps. Have a lovely party.

I did that kind of party when my daughter was turning 3, she is now 16. I got a mini doll cake pan. Pre-frosted all the cakes in my daughters favorite princess color and put mini doll picks in the top. You can get both the pan and the doll picks in a craft store like A.C. Moore or Michael's. I then got a bunch of different candies and had each pre-frosted cake on a sturdy plastic plate and all girls decorated their very own princess to take home.

The really didn't make much of a mess and had a great time with that.

I also had gone to the local Dollar Tree store and spent 5 dollars on each gift bag with princess related things and I had 6 girls so each girl went home feeling like a princess.

I used cheap tulle from Walmart in purples and just bunted everything in my family room with big bows to make a pretty princess room. I did the table, chairs everything that I could think of.

Your little princess is going to have the best time ever.

Have fun!

I would put on the invitation that you want the other kids to be dressed like princesses or princes. Just make sure that your daughter has the kit-n-kaboodle (tiara, wand, fake glass slippers, jewelry, etc.). Make her stand out. I would take her favorite color and drape the room in chiffon material in that color. Party Warehouse or Party City has lots of things that you can get to go with that theme. You could probably do a search on Betty Crocker for the cake idea. I hope your daughter has a great Bday!

Honestly, your trying to do a bit much for her...she only 3...lol!

I feel that if you get her the nicest, beautiful princess dress you can find and have all her friends also dress up as princesses also, with crowns and wands and stockings and slippers and a little bit of make up [i hate make up on little kids err]

Instead of makeing the whole house into a castle why not order a castle jumper--kids love those things!

The cake can be a castle or a reg. cake with a little crown on it with her name in the middle of it.

Games you can play hot potato, limbo, and musical corners--somewhat similar to musical chairs except its with corners.

good luck

If you want to go an easier route check out this site:

We gave our Grandaughter a Princess Birthday party, She turned 3 , We got all the supplies from there plus a cardboard castle that the kids color and can actually play in. They also have a personalized banner for the "Birthday Princess" . It is very convenient. You have to order in advance & everything comes delivered to your door. No searching from store to store for party supplies. Good Luck.

Get cheap fabric like tulle and drape it like grand curtains over the door to the main party room....decorate a chair like a throne for the Birthday girl....again drape it in fabric.....do big cardboard cut outs of crowns and paint gold....you can put one over the door and one on the throne.
Cut out cardboard crowns for hats and give each child stickers and "jewels" to decorate their own crown.
