The key is moderation. Don't guzzle it, but don't hate yourself and get all stressed out if you have more than one cup.
The baby will be fine. I've been a Dr Pepper addict through all my pregnancies and there's never been an issue.

i've been pregnant 3 times and have had coffee throughout each pregnancy with huge healthy babies. my doc said a cup a day is fine, and i pretty much stuck to that.
i did stop at starbucks on the way to a sonogram appointment one day, though, and realized that the caffeine definitely affects the baby. she was jumping around like a jackrabbit! i took it easy after that!
here's some additional info:

Yes, a morning cup of coffee won't hurt anyone. I generally recommend decaffeinated products, but if you must have caffeine, then don't have more than three cups a day. That's the limit because in studies of dairy cattle, when pregnant cows were given more than that dose, their calves were born smaller. And too much caffeine cuts down on blood flow to the placenta, and you don't want to do that because the baby won't be getting as much oxygen or as many nutrients. But in moderate amounts, caffeine poses no measurable risk to the fetus.

Yes. We did a very extensive study a few years ago in which we enrolled women very early in pregnancy; we found no effects on the fetus when you drink up to three cups of coffee a day; very few women drank more than that. That's the best study I know of. We can only say for sure that the first three cups are safe, but since we know up to three cups is fine, we can assume you'd have to consume a lot more than that to cause problems.

1 to 2 cups a day is OK, but I personally cut way down. I have an iced tea about every two weeks, maybe. No coffee and no soda with caffeine for me. If you must have it though, 1 to 2 cups a day is said to be OK.
good luck!

300mg of caffeine per day is considered safe, how many cups of coffee that is depends on what kind of coffee you are drinking. Also remember tea, pop, and chocolate may contain caffeine.

Not necessarily. You can still enjoy your favourite caffeinated drinks as long as you don't overdo it. Guidelines issued by the Food Standards Agency recommend that women have no more than 300mg of caffeine a day while pregnant. This is equivalent to three mugs of instant coffee or six cups of tea or eight cans of cola per day. Although moderate amounts of caffeine are unlikely to harm you or your unborn baby, some women choose to cut out caffeine completely.

Not necessarily. You can still enjoy your favorite caffeinated drinks as long as you don't overdo it. After years of controversy over the issue, most researchers now believe that, although caffeine does cross the placenta, moderate amounts (less than 300 milligrams a day) won't harm your baby.
That's about what you'd get from two or three 8-ounce cups of coffee. But keep in mind that the amount of caffeine in a cup of coffee varies widely depending on how strong it is, and that your serving size depends on how big your mug is — a typical mug holds about 10 ounces.
Many pregnant women limit their intake even further or cut out caffeine completely. If that seems wise to you, you won't get any arguments from your midwife or doctor.

My obgyn said coffee is okay - IN MODERATION.
Having more than 3 cups a day is a BIG NO-NO! - has been linked to cases of miscarriages.
Once or twice a week is okay... as long as you are careful about the rest of your diet.
I've been told to drink 8oz of milk daily (2% or even whole milk - if i'm not worried about weight gain).
But if you are already paying attention to all this, you'll be fine. Try decafe, if you can drink it, its mucha safer!!!

i don't know about coffee but I do know that my doctor told me 1 leiter of caffine (pop) is ok per day so I would think that having 1 or 2 cups of coffee per day would be fine. I also on occation had a few cups of coffee here and there but neverboth coffee and pop in the same day.
the only true harm in having caffine durring pregnancy is delivering to a cafine addicted baby.

well i began drinking iced coffee every day during my pregnancy. i think no more than a cup a day . shouldnt do anything. and every time i drank it my baby would get the hiccups and start kicking . she actually liked it. whenever she would go too long without moving , taking a snooze i would drink a cup and wake her up. as long as you dont drink more than a cup a day you should be fine.
