This happens to me from time to time too. It's awful to do a whole load of wash and it stink worse when you take it out.
I agree with all the answerers that you can try to run a wash with just bleach, baking soda or vinegar. Ive tried that and it's worked, but if you find it doesnt completely get rid of the odor, you might see if your washer has a 'trap'. Look in the owner's manual to locate it. They are always in different places on different models.
Ive found that when my washer gets a bit musty smelling, the trap is usally very full. My husband cleans it out and it's usually full of all kinds of strange stuff. Really strange stuff! Then after it's clean the wash smells great again.

try running the empty washer through the longest cycle with 1/2 gallon of vinegar in it.
are you leaving the clothes in the washer overnight? My old washer we could do that with, but the new washer because it uses less water , the clothes get musty faster.

Take the clothes out of the washer when the cycle stops. And wash your clothes more frequently. You are letting mold grow on them in the hamper. You put damp clothes in the hamper with everything else and the mold and mildew grow.

could be the water hoses..
run the washer with a cup of vinegar in it before you wash any more clothes..to clean it out..
when you rewash these clothes use baking soda to remove the odor that is in them (like 1/2 a cup)
if it still continues...contact your local water/waste plant to see if there have been any recent changes to the water treatment..(changes allllll the time)

Agree with all who said run the washer again. Cup of bleach, hot water, cup of baking soda.
Then leave the lid open when not in use to prevent more mildew growing.

Have you tried baking soda in the wash? It's supposed to take odors out.
I would also tell the people that I bought it from, could be a default in the washer itself.

rewash the clothes in the washer, but instead of soap, wash them with 1 or 2 cups of white vinegar.

Run your washer through one full cycle with nothing in it except a small bit of bleach. I swear it will work.

yes...run your washer...( with no clothes in it) ....with a cup of Clorox clean-up in it.
This should kill the mildew smell and clean your washer really well....
may have to do it twice but i doubt it

Take it back and make the store give you a new one. It's not a problem on your end, it's just that particular washer.
If you like the model, though, get another one just like it. It probably won't happen with your second one...
Hope this helps and good luck!
