don't like the idea? then why does everybody work within the same scheme?
you are either a boss with levels under you or you are the level under your boss. people get bought at salary price and sold at sale prices. you get paid 20,000 you are then sold for 35,000and so on life is one huge pyramid?

Pyramid systems are scams. The most important thing is most people don't know the difference between network marketing or multi level marketing and pyramid schemes. A pyramid scheme is illegal and deals with not product or service. So anytime you come across a business that deals with real product, you are looking at an mlm or something newer, direct marketing, where you just refer people to a company to buy product. Yes, people do make money off of other people's orders, that is how you supplement your income.
So, people that don't do their research on each company thoroughly could be missing out on a chance of a lifetime just because they put each company under the same heading, pyramid.
I've never been involved in pyramid because I did my homework and got involved in mlm's instead. Unfortunately I got really burned out on selling tons of product and never earning a check from the company. That is why I will only do referral to a direct marketing company for the rest of my life. It's the only thing that has paid me like clockwork every month, without selling. Jennifer

Great if you are one of the early suckers. The first retiree under Social Security paid in about $24 and took out about $24000. A Ponzi scheme. I am 83 so did get a positive return on the money taken from me. But I would have done many times better if I had been allowed to do my own investing. Every time I complained to a Congressman, I was told Social Security distributions will never be taxed. But now they are up to 85 per cent. People a few years younger than I have barely broken even. Young folks now having the money taken from them will not even get the total back, with a negative resultant rate of return.
In passing if you are a productive person you may only get back one-sixth as much for a year's work as will an unproductive person. After taxes, it can be one-ninth as much.

The whole pyramid system is a very old and very viable system. It's been in use for hundreds of years. Where it becomes a problem is when the concept is exploited and the bottom levels of the pyramid become saturated without any regard to what the cornerstone earns.
Good examples of how pyramids are exploited would be companies like Amway, Mary Kay, Avon, etc. Also there are many marketing ploys that utilize the system as well.
All-in-all another example of the pyramid at work is called Capitalism. While they don't call it a pyramid they refer to it as Economics.

I think you're referring to a "pyramid SCHEME".
Well, I don't know anyone who has fallen for one, so I don't know the "everybody" to whom you refer, except to say that they are just the kind of people who'd be interested in the piece of the Brooklyn Bridge, which I am offering, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, for a LIMITED TIME ONLY, for the INCREDIBLY LOW, LOW, price of *JUST* $10,000,000!!!!
That's right! Just get a few hundred of your friends to chip in a mere $100 to $1000 each, and, in NO TIME AT ALL, you'll have a world renowned landmark to call your own! I'll even throw in a bronze plaque with your name on it for all to see! That's a $50 value, all yours for just $10 million!!! What are you waiting for? ACT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. It wasn't necessary to omit the monetary sign, if you thought that would get more people to respond. Suckers are born every minute! When did you say your birthdate was? ;)
