Is there even a specific word? I don' mean "sickly" or anything like that. Just wondering if there is a more scientific name for it.

Related to hypochodria is Munchausen syndrome which is a psychiatric disorder in which those affected feign disease, illness, or psychological trauma in order to draw attention or sympathy to themselves. It is in a class of disorders known as factitious disorders which involve "illnesses" whose symptoms are either self-induced or falsified by the patient. It is also sometimes known as hospital addiction syndrome.

Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (MSbP), is a mental illness where a caregiver, usually a parent, guardian, or spouse, feigns or induces an illness in another person, usually a vulnerable child or adult, to gain power and control over the victim as well as attention or sympathy from others. Although cases with feigned or induced physical illness receive the most attention, it is also possible for a perpetrator who emotionally abuses a victim to simulate and fabricate conditions that appear to be psychiatric and/or genetic problems.

There are loads:

Unlucky
A nuisance
hypochondriac
malingerer
Afflicted

Coming from a doctor this isn't very sympathetic, sorry. If only I had a pound for everytime a healthy person walked through the door claiming illness. Sadly, there are many people who genuinely suffer - I would rather help them than write sick notes for malingerers.

If they are taking advantage of an employer's sick leave policy, they would be a "malingerer."

If a person is constantly thinking that they are ill with no discernable cause, then they are a hypochondriac.

If they are actually ill most or all of the time, they would be debilitated.
Good luck!
