I, like you think that's completely retarded (for lack of better wording). lol. But, I think they have to tell you, I'm sure they wouldn't want to to die from an overdose on tic tacs, or EVEN WORSE! they don't want you to try to live on them (I guess you would have to worry about those things when you're stuck on a desert island with a pocket full of tic tacs.) lol

They have been doing it for a long time. They do it for the people who are on diets and don't want to eat candy. they advertise that calorie as a way of letting people know, it's OK to eat a Tic- tac and not end up 500 pounds. So you can freshen your breath with this candy and not gain weight from calories! What more could a person want?? :)

It's very possible that the half calorie they write is a lie. There is a certain percentage called "margin of error" that the law allows in food. So my opinion in this case is, that writing on a product that it only contains half a calorie per serving is a real advertising ploy. People will think they're on a strict diet and feel good about their breath at the same time while enjoying the candy. Clever, wouldn't you say?

They just have nothing else to say that is worth mentioning so they say that to make their ads entertaining.
Tic Tacs are for people who forgot to brush their teeth before they left the house and realize too late that their breath stinks. Those people would eat a boxful if they thought it would make their breath sweet, so they are not just eating one anyway.

Could be either of 2 reasons:
-marketing ploy (most likely). Tell me another item you know calorie count off the top of your head.
-they're really more like 1.74 calories, so they round down to 1.5. That way, they can say say "one" in their advertising, instead of 2. (Same way that gasoline is always 9/10 cent, or someting is $9.95...keeps the number down a little, and makes people think it's lower)

Well, they might be obliged to do it according to government food packaging rules or something.
I think every company has to state the full nutrition facts, or else it's basically lying to the customers.
Like they don't do that anyway at McDonalds, though. Gross.

Because you have to be able to compare it with the calories in each pea, back to informed choice.
