If one got 45% the other got 55%
So 10 % is the difference and equals 150
This means 100 % is 1500
However, 1500 is 80% of the total
.8x = 1500
x = 1875
So, e is the answer.

You sure you are giving all the info? Do you mean the candidate that won got 45% of the votes? or do you mean that the two candidates got a total of 45% of the valid votes? Did the candidate that won, win by 150 votes?

through working backwards from answers to question... i got E and i am 100 percent sure

answer is: E (1875)

1875 * 0.8 = 1500 (80% of votes that's valid)
1500 * 0.45 = 675 (45% of valid votes)

1500 - 675 = 825 (votes of winner)

winner = 825 votes
loser = 675 votes
difference of 150 votes
