I'm tired of these Liberal p-u-s-s-i-e-s that think guns are the problem. I got my first .22 when i was 5 years old, i'm now 23 and have been shooting the entire time, and own some 30 guns of various types. Not once have any of my guns killed a person, except when i was in Iraq, and i didn't technically 'own' THAT gun. who agrees?

I'm all for the RESPONSIBLE ownership of firearms... but I do think it's just too darn easy for just about anyone in the country to get a gun.

There are just too many stupid people with guns out there... people who don't understand the responsibility of gun ownership nor do they teach that same understanding & respect for guns to their offspring.

...it's THOSE folk who're causing the problem.

Well perhaps those liberals should go sign up for a website (If I had it I'd post it) and watch a gun in a room for 15 min intervals. Lets see if the gun kills someone. (I will try to obtain it for you though) So far I've heard it's been there for a while and... oh guess what NOTHING HAPPENED! People do kill people. The tools of their hatred are innocent.

*added* I recently read a book (freakonomics, great book you should all take a look). Sweden has a law that every male above 18 (if I remember right) is given an assault rifle. They are amongst the heaviest armed countries in the WORLD yet their gun violence is amongst the LOWEST. Go figure. Guns are not the problem.

I agree. A gun doesn't just aim itself at someone and pull it's own trigger. There's a person operating that gun when the trigger is pulled. A gun also doesn't decide whether it's safety is on or off. I feel there should be stricter background checks for having a license to own a firearm. But I don't think we should take away a decent US citizen's right to the 2nd amendment.

My grandfather gave me a bolt action .22 with a stock he carved by hand when I was 4. Now I'm 44 and still have it and 32 other guns. Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than all my guns, and he is a liberal...

And I am sick and tired of you gun toting NRA freaks who think everyone should own 45thousand weapons and carry them on you all the time. A gun is not a toy, I would slap the person that gives a five year old any type of firearm. IN NO WAY IS A 5 YR OLD READY ASSUME THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A WEAPON, .22 OR NOT.

Don't get me wrong, I own a firearm, and like it, but there is a line, and some people cross it. What are you going to use an AK-47 for with a 7.62 mm bullet (that's approx .308 inch diameter) for besides killing people?

Whats the huge deal about a gun anyway? its a ******* metal pipe that propels a projectile.

A short list of inatimate objects that kill people:

1. Fossil fuel emissions
2. Transfats
3. Ropes
4. Poisons
5. Knives
6. Cars
7. Alcohol
8. Drugs
9. High places
10. Hammers

Every one of these things have humans operating them to be effective in causing death. Same thing with guns.

its in the Constitution... "Right to Bear Arms" and you can't take that away. People like Michael Moore think that by taking them away it will prevent people from murdering others... a man or woman doesn't need a gun to kill, there are so many ways to kill another that just taking away our guns won't help. Instead of looking at the tools that kill we need to look into what will influence someone to kill another.

While I don't agree with a 5 year-old child playing with guns, I do agree that people are the problem, not guns, unless the guns aren't taken care of properly (left in reach of children, etc.)

You're right bad people commit crimes and if guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. Liberalism is a mental disorder, Liberals want to give special rights to terrorist, criminals and illegals and take away the rights of those who obey the law.

I don't believe rightful owners like yourself should be deprived of their right to bear arms. If some kook or criminal wants to kill someone or stick someone up, believe me, they're going to get a gun, or knife, or stick (sorry, Shanahan, you're 100% wrong). If all you can legally own is the knife or stick and the bad guy has the gun, guess what? you lose.
